Church, homes shot up by gunmen
Andre' Williams, STAR Writer

Gunmen armed with high-powered weapons shot up a church and five homes in Blenheim district, Manchester, yesterday. Nobody was injured during the attack.

Our news team gathered that the usually quiet community remains tense following the shooting.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that investigators theorised that the shooting was an act of reprisal for a murder committed at a dance in the parish on Independence Day.

Richard 'Skibba' Spence, 53, of a South Manchester address, was reportedly beaten and stabbed to death, allegedly by men from Blenheim after an altercation with them at the dance.

THE WEEKEND STAR was told that a group of teenagers has been detained in connection with the killing. Up to late yesterday, they were still not charged.

A senior officer close to the investigations told THE WEEKEND STAR that the police would be increasing their presence in Blenheim to alleviate the fears of the residents.
