Thugs kidnap, rob fishermen at Hermitage Dam |

Three men who went on a late evening fishing expedition on Sunday in the Hermitage Dam in St Andrew, had no idea that they would have to endure being held against their will and robbed. THE WEEKEND STAR understands that one of the men managed to escape his attackers. However, his companions had to endure a frightening encounter as armed thugs relieved them of their day's catch and robbed them of their cellphones and other belongings. escaped Our news team spoke to a relative of the man who escaped and managed to raise an alarm. He said, "Mi jus haffi thank God seh dem never kill dem. A three a dem go up deh. Two man dem say run out pan dem after dem a ready up fi leave. Well, him say him escape and dem tek him two fren dem. In the end, dem carry dem go rob dem. Dem loose dem phone, and, all the fish weh dem go catch, di man dem rob dem." THE weekend STAR also gathered from the relative, that the man who managed to escape from the gunmen, ran breathlessly, for about four miles, to the Stony Hill Police station, where he filed a report. Our news team was told that a team of officers went to the location in search of the missing men. THE weekend STAR gathered that they were found unharmed and the gunmen had fled the scene on foot. On Tuesday, when contacted by THE WEEKEND STAR, the Stony Hill police confirmed that a report was, in fact made and a search was conducted for the men. A policeman, who declined to give his name, told the news team that investigation into the matter was ongoing. |
