Don Husky on the rise |
|||||
Don Husky - Contributed Don Husky's rise in music can only be perceived as fate, as what was considered another social event to attend turned out to be a massive change in his life. At that time, his only desire was to show support to Flexx who was having a video launch in Cassava Piece where there were several established artistes including dancehall giant Bounty Killer. There was a chance for the young deejay to perform and with both arms open, he accepted and impressed all those inside the venue. One of those persons who he impressed was Foota Hype, currently Downsound Records selector. The veteran invited Don Husky to meet at Downsound Records for a try out. He did demo tracks which were handed to the label's executive producer Scatta Burrell. Burrell was impressed and immediately sanctioned the artiste to be the latest inclusion at the Kingston-based records company. He was then introduced to CEO Joseph Bogdanovich, who also impressed with his style and attitude. Shortly after that patient-testing procedure, the deejay got his chance to finally record a track. Mi Want My Own on the Foota Hype-produced 'Church Money' rhythm was his first studio effort, which has been warmly received by the general public. He followed that up with a 'gangster' track titled Dons Of All Dons, which features former Magnum Kings and Queens of dancehall finalist Specialist. Both tracks are doing well in the streets and on radio land. Even though he has been around for more than a year, it sometimes seems a fairytale for the young deejay who not too long ago was roaming the industry for a place to hone his talents. "Is like a mystery. But I am very grateful and will continue to put in the hard work because I am fortunate to have these veterans around me," acknowledged Don Husky. He recently shot his first music video for a song called Meditation, which is currently doing well on several local charts. He has already performed at Sting and on the Irie FM Road Show. Under the expertise of Bogdanovich and marketing director Sean 'Contractor' Edwards, Husky is poised to reach very far in the dancehall arena, both locally and internationally. |
