Nobody beating Bolt - Greene |

MOSCOW, Russia: Olympic champion turned commentator Maurice Greene is expecting an exciting rematch between Justin Gatlin and Usain Bolt in the 100m, but fully expects the Jamaican to put on a show at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. Greene, who went on a limb ahead of the 2011 World Championships, successfully predicting a win for Yohan Blake in the 100m final, is backing the favourite this time, stating that he believes Bolt will have little fuss in winning the sprint double here. Gatlin became only the fourth man to beat Bolt in the 100m after getting the better of the double world-record holder at the Rome Diamond League meet in early June, and Greene, who won the 100m gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games along with four individual gold medals at the World Championships, believes that the rivalry will at least provide an extra spark to the event. "Listen, nobody is beating Bolt. I think he is healthy and fit and wants to put on a show here," Greene said. "He won't be beaten in the 100m and he certainly will not be beaten over 200m; in fact I think that event will be a walk-off." "You still have the rematch with Justin Gatlin and Usain in the 100m, so Bolt is going to want his revenge, and that will make out to be a good race," Greene said. "Bolt is coming in great form now and he is competing very well, and Justin is healthy now, so it's going to be exciting." "I still think Bolt is going to win, because he is in a better shape and form than Justin is in. I hope Gatlin puts up a good race, though, but we have to wait and see," Greene added. Greene is expecting much more uncertainty in the women's 100m where world leader and two-time Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is bracing for a challenge from Nigerian Blessing Okagbare, who beat her to the line at the recent Sainsbury's London Anniversary Games. Add defending champion Carmelita Jeter, who has had several injury setbacks this season, and dark horses like Kelly-Ann Baptiste, English Gardner and Kerron Stewart to the mix and it becomes even more intriguing. |
