Terminate the pregnancy
Dear Pastor,

It is not wrong to terminate the pregnancy of a minor, because the child would be too young to take care of the baby, and would not be financially able to support the baby. She is also too young to work.

Normally, girls who become pregnant at such young age are coming from very poor backgrounds. She would not even have the proper support of family members. They would be too stressed thinking about their own situations. So, terminating the pregnancy would definitely be the preferred option.

Dear C.,

Have you considered the role of the man who got this girl pregnant? Shouldn't he be compelled to support the baby by taking him/her and paying someone to support the child, or to provide the resources to hire a babysitter? What about his side of the family? If the mother of the baby cannot afford to keep the child, what role can his side of the family play?

I know his relatives cannot be forced to take the child, but isn't that also an option? And if the young lady can be persuaded to carry the pregnancy but will not be able to support him/her, shouldn't she be encouraged to give up the child for adoption?

Pastor
