A sound system operator who was held with an illegal gun last year was convicted in the Gun Court last week.

He is Curfal Fisher, otherwise call 'Fyah Ras', 32-year-old of Hamilton Gardens, Gregory Park, Portmore, St Catherine.

Fisher was convicted following a trial that lasted for two days.

The Crown led evidence that a house occupied by the entertainer was raided on May 10 last year, when the police conducted an operation in Hamilton Gardens.

During a search of the house, a semi-automatic shotgun was found.

Fisher, who was at home, was taken into custody by the police and following an investigation by Corporal Desmond Brown of the Portmore Police Station, he was charged with illegal possession of firearm. He made numerous court appearances and maintained his innocence throughout.

Fisher is to sentenced on August 7.
