Man fined for destroying babymother's cell phone

A jealous man was on Friday ordered to fork out $5,000 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court to reimburse the mother of his child, after he destroyed her cell phone during a rage.

Charged with malicious destruction is Tyrone Allen, who entered a guilty plea with explanation.

The court was told that on the day in question, the accused saw his babymother talking on the phone and took it away and destroyed it.

The accused was asked by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey why he did such a thing.

He said, "Your Honour, she is my babymother and I saw her talking on the phone with her boyfriend!"

RM Pusey responded saying, "Pay for her phone."

The complainant told the court the phone cost $5,000, and the accused was told to fork it up.

The accused told RM Pusey that the whole thing was a 'misunderstanding', however, she in turn told him, she did not understand because that word has so much meaning.

In closing, the complainant requested that another restraining order be placed on Allen.

Allen quickly addressed RM Pusey saying, "Your Honour, she took one out against me before and I moved on with my life, and within three months she come back asking for forgiveness... now this."

RM Pusey then warned the complainant not to use the court as a toy for their relationship.
