![]() Crystal Harrison - Barbara Channer and Ambrozine Brown. Crystal Harrison, Staff Reporter Despite residing overseas, Barbara Channer and sister Ambrozine Brown said they have been inspired by God to give back to the Princess Margaret Hospital and their former community, Trinityville, St Thomas. The former teacher and foster parent, 70-year-old Channer, who resides in Canada, said, for more than five years, she and her sister have either assisted the Princess Margaret Hospital with medical supplies or have helped the less fortunate in Trinityville. Recently, the duo contributed a suction machine, digital thermometers, among other medical supplies, to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Brown, 67, who resides in the United States, said she was inspired to give back to the hospital because, over the years, her father, sister and niece were hospitalised at the institution and that gave her the opportunity to realise enough equipment wasn't available for patients. "Over the last five years or so, me and my sister have been doing charity work together. We have given the Princess Margaret Hospital medical supplies and would love to give more to the children's department," Brown said. THE STAR understands initiatives done in the Trinityville community are channelled through the Jamaica Bible Church. The duo said that by liaising with the church, they are able to organise help for the community. In coming months, Channer and Brown said they want to provide educational assistance for at least students in the community on an annual basis. "The Lord has laid it on my heart to help in such a big way. The youngsters in Trinityville are so talented and ambitious. I would love to provide at least two scholarships, for even two persons," Channer told THE STAR. General overseer of the Jamaica Bible Church, Barrington Nicholson, said, for several years, Trinityville, St Thomas, has benefited tremendously from the sister duo. 'I have known Barbara Channer for over five years and I can say that the she has responded well to the church, shut-ins, the Princess Margaret Hospital and the community at large. She wants to continue giving, and she believes that the Lord has called her for this purpose," the overseer said.
