The obese woman who was abandoned and had been living on a hospital bench at the Kingston Public Hospital, for weeks, has seemingly vanished without a trace.

It is believed that she was relocated into state care but that has not been confirmed.

When THE WEEKEND STAR spoke with both the mother and uncle of Kerry-Ann Thompson earlier this week, neither were able to say where the woman is.

"I heard she was moved to some agency but I don't know where to," Winston Munroe said.

"The phone that she has keeps ringing without answer," Marcia Munroe remarked.

Chairman of The South East Regional Health Authority, Lyttleton Shirley, assured THE WEEKEND STAR team that he would make checks to ascertain the woman's whereabouts. However, up to press time last night, nothing official was communicated.

THE WEEKEND STAR had reported on July 10 that the woman was forced to call the bench home after she was discharged from the hospital but was deserted by her family.

Meanwhile, Shirley had explained that patient abandonment is not new at the hospital and remains a challenge.

He said, "It has reached a stage where when they no longer want to take care of them. They dump them on the hospital compound."
