Bramma undergoes name change |
|||||
Bramma - Contributed After toying with the idea of a name change for months, it's now official! Dancehall artiste Shawn Brammer, more popularly known as Bramma, has modified his stage moniker from 'Bramma Di Bomma' to 'Bramma Di Gorilla'. The change forms part of his career-rebranding exercise, further bolstered by the unveiling of a new musical outfit called the 'Gorilla Squad'. The group consists of various entertainment practitioners all of whom will be collectively responsible for the upward thrust of his career. Aside from his new moniker, the Some People singer recently inked a new deal with British-based label S-Lock Entertainment. The deal will see Bramma 'Di Gorilla' being managed by the group but retains a recording agreement with long-time friend and accomplished producer Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor. In a statement to the media, Bramma said, "It definitely a good look for my career at this time as S-Lock Entertainment will now undertake the professional responsibilities of my career while I concentrate on making music with Di Genius." The revised agreement between Bramma and 'Di Genius' does not restrict him from recording with other producers, hence allowing even more flexibility to now freely record for whomever he chooses. Prior to his recent Caribbean and North American stint, Bramma Di Gorilla and his team had embarked on an islandwide tour, blanketing each parish with his new 'Bad Gorilla' mixtape, a move he hopes will yield results and help to make him a household name across Jamaica. Currently promoting his Dreadlocks Rasta music video, the deejay is confirmed to appear on the highly publicised 'Downtown Summer Sizzle' this weekend in South Parade downtown, Kingston.
