Breezy McKenley to host island gospel tour |
|||||
Breezy McKenley Breezy McKenley, more popularly known as 'The Tribute Man', is on an islandwide drive to put back the dignity into gospel music with the staging of his island gospel tour which kicked off on Saturday, July 6 at Harker's Hall Adventist Church in St Catherine. The 'Tribute Man', armed with his unique style of presenting the old-time gospel message with the beat of popular love songs from secular artistes, has also put on board other well-noted gospel artistes who are ready to share the gospel all over the island this summer. McKenley, who has been an experienced campaigner in this field, says with his style, "Gospel music is now coming back to life." McKenley says he specialises in old-time songs and turning them into gospel to get the real deal that can touch the hearts of people. "My songs are not like the modern songs that only get mention and then die. Anywhere on the streets I go or at any function I have CD selling and people are gravitating towards it." McKenley, who is currently building a church in Irons Mountain, St Ann, says proceeds from the tour will be donated to other institutions and charities. The two-month tour begins in St Catherine and ends in Manchester. The first part of the tour features artistes such as Sister Skully, Joan Flemming, and Brother Norman. The tour will make its next stop today at the Montego Bay High School. The second part of the tour will begin on August 1 at the International Regatta in Ocho Rios and will be headlined by Jabez and Kukudoo. The tour continues with a three-series gospel concert starting on August 9 at the Pier View Entertainment Centre in Portland. The Police Officers' Club in Kingston will be the venue for August 10 and Mandeville Central for August 11. Each concert begins at 7 p.m. |
