Apache Kid for Apache Chief - Son continues father's comedy act

The local comedic fraternity is still in mourning after the death of one of their members, Garnett Allen, aka Apache Chief, from the duo 'Apache Chief and Sarge'.

Whereas preparations are ongoing for final rites for the affable comedian, anticipation is also heightening as a new comedy duo is about to emerge.

In keeping with the entertainers' tradition that "the show must go on", Allen's onstage partner has declared that comedian Apache Chief is gone but the comedy continues, as Apache Chief's eldest son, Garnet Allen Jr is set to take up the mantle and fill the void created by his father's sudden passing.

The duo will now be called Apache Kid and Sarge and will debut at the July edition of LIME Comedy Café, scheduled for Famous Night Club in Portmore, next Wednesday.

The duo had several bookings lined up including General Degree's Manchester Fiesta in August and shows in London in October, but Apache Chief passed on July 11 at the Spanish Town hospital.

His funeral is scheduled for Sunday, August 4.
