Patra employs international agent

( L - R ) Fitzroy Francis, Lady Patra

New York-based music producer Fitzroy Francis will now act as an international agent for legendary female dancehall artiste Lady Patra.

The two, said to have known each other from their teen years, agreed on terms to make their association more formal almost a month ago and has since gone to make it public.

As her agent, Francis is charged with monitoring her social-media accounts and act as her spokesperson globally. He will also have an input into her future music productions, which runs under her company, Plus Entertainment.

Francis, a Jamaican, now residing in the United States, also represents new female reggae sensation Chyna Nicole, veteran reggae crooner Zanadu and Black Uhuru lead singer Andrew Bees.

He is also the founder and executive producer of Mightyful13 Records.

Lady Patra, real name Dorothy Smith, has long been sighted as the 'Queen of the Pack' in dancehall music. She skyrocketed to fame in the 1990s when she teamed up with self-proclaimed dancehall emperor Shabba Ranks for the single Family Affair.

She entered the Billboard Top 100 charts several times after with Romantic Call, Pull Up To My Bumper and Worker Man.

Since last year, the veteran lyricist has become more vocal in an attempt to rekindle her glory days.

She is currently promoting her new single Sweet Reggae Music on the LGN Entertainment/Veal-Stean Music Publishing. It was released on June 4 with an official music video. The song is already picking up speed in both local and international radio land. Lady Patra is also gearing for the release of her latest album, The Continuation.

Francis, a Rastafarian, said he welcomes the new venture with open arms.

"I have known Patra for a very long time now and I can boldly say that she is one the most dynamic and hard-working artistes I have been around. Her passion for music exceeds all egos. I am delighted with this new opportunity," he said.

Lady Patra is also beaming with optimism about this new venture.

"Rocky (Fitzroy Francis) and I are friends for so many years. He loves and understands music. His professionalism, honesty and integrity is what strikes me most about him," she said.
