Smart TV, Asafa and Trayvon |

What a way di people dem wid dem smart tv a hype an gwaan! Mi see one weh day an to how dem a hype it up, it come in like seh yuh can step through the screen and go inna di show! Is like all when di people dem a eat yuh can jus' reach ova and tek out some a di food when dem naa look! No sah, dem TV yah an phone too bad nowadays and di more mi think bout it dem mek mi fraid, because how a tv can be so sensitive an know when mi lock my eye fi lock off to! Yuh no see seh dem new tv an technology yah will put yuh inna mix-up an probably all seh weh yuh no seh and put yuh weh yuh neva deh, lol. No sah, dem bad, but big up all who seh big back tv still, cause regardless a wah, we still a watch di same show dem! Mi no see nobady a walk outta di flat screen dem an a siddung inna people lap. But 10 story inna one when mi hear bout the verdict inna the Trayvon Martin case mi head swell big, but mi never surprise. From mi see how di case a go and the argument dem, and just how the prosecution never did a shaaat, mi know seh it was a big possibility to get a not gulity verdict. At the same time I know the burden of proof is on the prosecution, which to me, did need fi go a Johnny Cochran graveside go talk to him an ask him fi some inspiration. devil's advocate The case is that a white man shoot and kill an unarmed young man who a come from the store with skittles and ice tea and him no guilty of nutten? Mi no know wah unnu call it but if it look like, smell like and shape like racism, mi no know wah else fi seh. Wah unnu seh? Something strike mi bout the case as it relates to us as a country too, and mi see it happen so many times. Mek mi play devil's advocate ... many Jamaicans up in arms about the Trayvon Martin case tweeting and talking about it like crazy yet, we have so many young persons in our country who die daily, and it would seem like they don't get the same attention or empathy pouring out like how everybody a rally behind this case. Notwithstanding, it's a life lost and we feel it whether yuh black or white or whether yuh come from 'Merica or Jamaica, but when will we rally around our own local brothers and sisters to see that justice is served, and when it is not, we let our voices be heard like so many are doing now. Not because the story dem no come pon big overseas channel no mean seh we fi overlook our own. It's a travesty and a very sad case and a great loss to a family. From the incident wid VCB and now this latest revelation with more athletes both local and overseas, a wah really a gwaan inna the track and field world? Right now to how mi nervous bout dem positive findings of banned substances, mi really no feel good inna mi heart and mi jus' eager fi hear the explanations as to why this is so. Tyson Gay him kinda talk a wah, Asafa Powell come out an say a ting, and mi hear some other female athletes name a drop inna di mix, and mi just feel bad and not just for the athletes, but for the Jamaican legacy that is being tarnished as well as the rigours that the upcoming athletes will have to endure. Mi hear one analyst one time seh it betta dem jus' free it up an mek everybody tek it an den we see who faster because at the end of the day, most, if not all, are taking something. He cited the fact that some athletes have very sophisticated ways of hiding the fact that they are on these banned substances or performance enhancing drugs. That may be an option, but the integrity of the sport would be gone to the dogs. Mi just waa hear the nitty gritty because mi understand seh banned substance doesn't necessarily mean performance enhancer or steroids, but mi still waa know how it ketch inna dem body! Many Jamaicans up in arms about the Trayvon Martin case tweeting and talking about it like crazy, yet we have so many young persons in our country who die daily, and it would seem like they don't get the same attention.
