Defending champs Portmore United, playing with nine players for the duration of the match, blanked a full-strength Bridgeport team 3-0 in the feature match of a double-header as the Pines Imaging Centre Portmore U-17 Football League kicked off at the Ferdie Neita Park in Braeton last Sunday.

Kimonie Bailey and Ricardo Dennis gave Portmore a comfortable 2-0 cushion at the half-time break, and Siegel Knight sealed the issue with a second-half strike.

Portmore were on the back foot even before the referee's whistle blew to start the match as due to ID issues, they could only use nine players from their roster. This, however, did not phase the experienced Portmore side, and they dominated in all departments of the game.

Bridgeport had their moments but didn't capitalise on chances afforded to them and will have to regroup for the next round.

In the opening game of the day, East Portmore Portals blanked Braeton United 3-0. Fitzalbert Chambers struck a double, and Shaunde McIntosh added another goal from the penalty spot to give their team a comfortable victory.

The competition continues tomorrow with a full slate of games.
