Anti-kidnapping bags

In response to an increase in the number of children going missing and cases of kidnapping, a security company has made an attempt to combat the problem by introducing backpacks with alarms.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that the safety backpacks are ideal for children to draw attention to themselves in the event they are being harmed.

The concept of the safety gears, which include bag packs and personal trackers is the brainchild of PFS Security Limited, a firm that offers several security services such as unarmed guards, 24-hour surveillance, and security consultancy, among other supports.

Parents are encouraged to equip their children with the bags called iSafe Bag bag packs as they are equipped with hidden pull cords to activate alarms.

In a situation where a child or adult feels endangered, THE WEEKEND STAR understands that, once the cord on the bag is pulled, an alarm twice as loud as a siren will go off and draw attention to the potentially harmed victim.

"This is the brainchild of PFS Security Limited and we thought, as a company, it was an innovative way to respond to the insecurities in our family and society. These bags are for children and adults. The bag is a mobile personal alarm and we normally suggest that persons buy the bag along with the bracelet tracker and the personal tracker. The starting price for the bags is $6,000 and we have payment plans," said Patrice Samuels of Hear The Children's Cry .

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that part proceeds from the sale of these safety bags and trackers will go in aid of Hear The Children's Cry Missing Child Programme.

Betty Ann Blaine, convenor of Hear The Children's Cry, told THE WEEKEND STAR that the concept of the bags is a great idea.

"It is a wonderful idea for children and adults to be protected," Blaine said.

The bags and personal trackers are available at PFS Security Limited head office at 14 1/2 Half-Way Tree Road or at other PFS Security offices islandwide.
