A 27-year-old woman who had worms coming from a wound located near her vagina, appears to have a dead man to thank for it being healed. The woman's wound is said to have healed after he appeared to her in her dreams with instructions on how to cure her ailment, THE WEEKEND STAR understands. Corporate Area resident Shelly-Ann Burrows, explains how she came to have the mysterious injury. "I was at a set up for a dead man recently and I felt tired, so I decided to stay over the dead house until the next day. I fell asleep and suddenly I felt a sharp bite at my vagina, I woke up and looked around but didn't see anything and went back to sleep although the place remained a bit sore." Burrows said the following day, while taking a shower and scrubbing the area, it was still sore, so she visited a clinic where she was told nothing was wrong. She said she was confident that something was 'off' due to the pain she was feeling and decided to visit her private doctor, where it was revealed that something was indeed wrong. The doctor, Jepthah Ford, revealed what he saw when he first tended to his patient. "The area was red and swollen and there was some decaying flesh at the centre, I cleaned it out and covered the area with black ointment, and gave her the appropriate medicines," he stated. Burrows said Dr Ford's efforts only helped briefly but the following night, the man whose 'dead yard' she attended, came to her in a dream and told her how to cure her ailment. "That night, I dreamt the dead man and he said he came to tell me that the doctor was good, but I should get a tin of screw worm spray and spray out the cut." She said the following day she purchased the spray, but was told the product was not meant for humans, but for animals. However, despite this warning, she purchased the spray but at the time did not use it. Burrows said she again dreamt that the dead man was encouraging her to use the spray. "I went home and fell asleep and again the man dreamt me and said I must not listen to people, but I must hurry up and use the spray before it got worse, and it would not get better until I did," she said. To her shock and horror after removing the dressing and applying the spray to the wound, dozens of worms began to crawl out. In her fright, she immediately returned to Dr Ford for treatment. "I went back to the doctor and he used a funny instrument and recovered a lot (worms) and he even sprayed it himself and worms started to come from underneath the bottom of the cut. I am feeling better, but the worms are still coming and the doctor is still treating me and I am still taking his medicines, but I am sure now that I will be better. God is good!" she said. THE WEEKEND STAR gained access to an image of the infected area; we observed a large hole about an inch away from Burrow's vagina. What appeared to be maggots, could be seen in and around the wound. "This is an unusual case, I can't imagine what's going on here, at first, I thought it was a spider bite, but on her second visit, I was most surprised to see maggots! It must have been a fly, but what fly I am not sure, the only thing I can think of that would do that is the New Zealand Sheep Fly," Dr Ford surmised. He said the New Zealand Sheep Fly is not common in Jamaica and regretted that he did not take a sample of the worms to the lab for testing to determine their origin. Name changed
