Court probes ... DID GOOD SAMARITAN RAPE TEEN? - Tutor charged after offering girl ride
Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A 41-year-old tutor, who allegedly raped a teenager who ran to his car for rescue, was granted bail when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The man who has been charged with rape is Courtney Carson of a St Catherine address. When the matter came up for mention, attorney-at-law Courtney Maxwell instructed by Michael Jordon made a successful bail application.

He told the court that the accused had a fixed address, and will attend court to prove his innocence. Bail was granted on condition he stays away from the complainant and return to court on October 8.

Allegations are that on June 2, the complainant and her boyfriend were having sex near a public space in Greater Portmore.

A man armed with a machete approached them and demanded sex.

Both ran away from the scene and the boyfriend allegedly stopped a car driven by the accused. They related their ordeal and the accused was asked to assist the complainant (who had reportedly fled the area leaving her underwear behind) home.

During the journey, the accused reportedly forced her to have oral sex with him. He subsequently took her to another section of the community where he allegedly had his way with her.

A subsequent report was made to the police and an investigation launched.

This resulted in charges of rape, grievous sexual assault and abduction.
