Jamaican man shot dead, son injured in Pennsylvania

A Jamaican man was shot dead and his son shot and injured in Reading, Pennsylvania, after they both left a bar in that community, according to the news website www.wfmz.com.

The dead man has been identified as Clifford 'Whimpy' McFarlane who worked as a chef. McFarlane's 29-year-old son was shot several times over his body and had to undergo emergency surgery. The alleged suspect, who remains unidentified, is also in hospital after he sustained severe injuries from being tackled by an eyewitness.

The post on the website continued that the father and son were leaving the Gargoyle Lounge bar on Eighth Street, when a gunman ambushed them brandishing a .40 calibre handgun.

scuffle

The shooter is reported to have fled through an alley but was soon apprehended by an eyewitness who wrestled with him to the ground until the police arrived within seconds. This scuffle is reported to have left the gunman severely injured.

It appears, according to the post, that McFarlane had been targeted as court documents quoted the suspect as saying that McFarlane should have died long ago.

Another eyewitness, who lives close to where the incident took place, believes that there were two gunmen and the Reading police are looking into that possibility.

Police are also reviewing security camera footage, the post concluded.
