Labourer gets new court date

WESTERN BUREAU:

A St James man reportedly held with cocaine and ganja outside a popular Montego Bay hotel in April, returns to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on August 7.

Labourer Fabian Foster, 24, from Flankers, Montego Bay, is charged with possession of, and dealing in two ounces of cocaine and one ounce of ganja. His bail was extended.

Allegations are that police were conducting an operation in Ironshore, when Foster was seen outside the RIU Hotel with a duffel bag. On spotting the police, Foster attempted to flee, but was held and searched and the narcotics were found in his bag.

On Wednesday, clerk of the court Natalie Malcolm told Resident Magistrate Winsome Henry that the forensic certificate was not ready.

"Some follow-up was done, and the forensic certificate is still outstanding. The prosecution is asking for one month's time," said Malcolm.

"Your bail is extended, return to court on August 7, sir," the magistrate advised Foster after checking her court diary.
