Christopher Thomas, STAR Writer WESTERN BUREAU: A St James woman arrested last December in connection with 110 pounds of ganja found at her mother's house had her case deferred to August 15 as the forensic certificate was not ready. Tashoya Cahoun, 27, from Cornwall Courts, Montego Bay, and who is charged with possession of and dealing in ganja, had her bail extended last Thursday. Allegations are that about 4 p.m. on December 3, the investigating officer went with a search warrant to a house in Norwood, St James, where he spoke to Cahoun. The officer was allowed to search the house. While doing so he found two barrels and three plastic bags with the ganja. When questioned, Cahoun reportedly said the drug belonged to her mother. She was subsequently arrested. Clerk of the court Shelly-Ann Greaves told Resident Magistrate (RM) Winsome Henry that the forensic certificate had not yet been typed or signed. "Contact was made with the forensic laboratory, and we were advised that the certificate is to be typed and that the analyst who is to sign the certificate is on leave until August," said Greaves. "So we will mention the matter on August 15," said RM Henry. |
