Teacher fined for injuring child
Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

A teacher who injured a child at school was fined $80,000 or six months' hard labour in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court.

The Crown led evidence that the day in question the teacher was at a school when she decided to discipline a male student, and used a piece of stick to hit the child who suffered injuries behind the ear.

After relating to his mother what occurred, the child was taken to the Bog Walk Police station.

A report was lodged and investigation by Constable Camille Reid led to the teacher's arrest.
