Principal of Garvey Maceo High School in May Pen, Clarendon, Erica Eubanks, says funding is needed for the school to acquire wires for the closed-circuit television security system, following the latest robbery.

The closed-circuit television security system had been recently donated to the institution.

"The gift that we got from somebody within the community is closed-circuit television and it is just that we have not gotten enough funds for the wiring to set them up and all of that," the principal said.

In the latest robbery to hit the school, thieves made off with a number of items, including cell phones, an amplifier, and sporting gears, after they had gained access through a section of the institution.

The school, which had been donated to Jamaica as a gift from the government and the people of Cuba, has been affected by thieves in the past.

In March, students who were in final preparations for the ISSA Boys and Girls' Championships were held up by armed thugs, after they invaded the school. It is reported that the thugs stole money, computer equipment and cell phones. One student had also been assaulted in the incident.
