WOMAN BEATS MOTHER FOR TV

"I don't know why my daughter a beat me off," complainant tells RM

A woman who is accused of beating her mother in a dispute over a television set was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

She is Crystal Bryan who has pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, and malicious destruction of property.

Bryan is to return to court on July 26, when the matter will be mentioned, as Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey has ordered a social enquiry report.

Allegations are that on the day of the incident, the accused and the complainant got into an argument at their home about a television.

The court heard that the complainant's DVD player was damaged in the incident and she received several blows to her body and was stabbed.

"Your honour, I don't know why my daughter a beat me off," the complainant told the court before demonstrating to RM Pusey how her daughter draped her and even made attempts to hit her with a fan and furniture.

The woman who broke down in tears said that her daughter was even stabbing at her in the presence of the police.

Before making her order for a social enquiry report, RM Pusey asked Bryan to explain her behaviour.

The accused also broke down in tears. RM Pusey said that she needs a social enquiry report before she can continue the case, as something is definitely happening between the two.
