Six remanded on drug-related charges |

|
Launtia Cuff, STAR Writer Three Jamaicans and three Costa Ricans were yesterday remanded when they appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court on drug-related charges. They are Jamaicans, 33-year-old Romaina Roye of Morningside, St Elizabeth; 29-year-old Fitzroy McLeod of Old Harbour, St Catherine, and 27-year-old Aaron Dixon of Toll Gate, Clarendon. The Costa Ricans have been identified as 48-year-old Harris Campbell Walton; 47-year-old Learnard Dean Berry and 32-year-old Carlton Francios Gomes Cartes. All six have been charged with possession of, dealing in, taking steps to export, conspiracy to export, and using premises for storage and distribution of ganja. It is reported that on June 17, police from the Area 3 Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division took the men into custody following the seizure of approximately half ton of cured compressed ganja in a tank and 600 gallons of gasoline at a house in Morningside in St Elizabeth. The six are set to return to court on July 22. |
