Cocaine seized at Norman Manley Airport |

Three pounds of cocaine was seized at the Norman Manley International Airport, Kingston, yesterday and a businesswoman arrested. Charged with possession of, dealing in and attempting to export cocaine is Stacy-Ann Martin, 31, from Hellshire in Portmore, St Catherine. She is scheduled to go before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today. The police said that about 5:50 a.m., Martin was going through security checks at the airport, when the substance was detected. She was arrested. Meanwhile, the police are continuing their investigations into the seizure of an estimated $50 million worth of cocaine yesterday morning at the Kingston Container Terminal in Newport West, Kingston. No arrest The drug was seized during an operation by members of the Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division and the Contraband Enforcement Team of the Jamaica Customs Agency. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure. Reports from the police are that about 1:30 a.m., during security checks, a 40-foot container was searched and two bags containing cocaine, weighing approximately 43.9 kilograms, were found. |
