Sentencing again delayed for former US Embassy security chief

Sentencing for the former security chief at the United States Embassy in Kingston, David Rainsberger, has been rescheduled for a third time.

His sentencing on charges of receiving unlawful gratuities and making false statements to US authorities was put off in a federal court in Virginia on Friday.

The judge asked for the sentencing to be moved to another day because of a conflict in his schedule.

In February, Rainsberger admitted to the charges.

He is facing the possibility of seven years in prison.

Court records reveal that the former security chief befriended a well-known entertainer, identified only as DB.

The entertainer had been barred from entering the US because of allegations of criminal conduct.

Rainsberger's investigation of the entertainer resulted in the reinstatement of the Jamaican entertainer's visa.

In return for his assistance, court records say Rainsberger received two luxury watches from the entertainer as well as a birthday party hosted by DB and free admission to nightclubs.
