It was a tearful farewell for the late McCauley Primary School student Tamara Laing, whose body was retrieved from a pit latrine a few weeks ago. The Ebenezer Church of God Seventh-day Church at Darling Pen on the Spanish Town bypass, St Catherine, was packed to capacity for her funeral yesterday. From the singing of the first hymn, the tears started to flow freely. The eulogy read by Charlene Ellis, who described Laing as "A very loving, obedient, smart, mannerly, disciplined, playful and bright student". There were tributes from Laing's schoolmates and also from students at the Love and Faith Basic School. Laing was later interred at the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in the parish. The body of the eight-year-old was found on May 30 in a pit latrine close to her home in March Pen. Police investigators are yet to make a breakthrough into the matter. |
