Wanted man arrested, illegal firearm recovered

A wanted man was arrested and an illegal firearm seized during an operation on Paisley Road, Kingston, yesterday.

The Denham Town police said during the operation, conducted between 1 and 2 p.m., several premises were searched and the weapon - a 9mm Glock 17 pistol, loaded with a magazine containing six 9mm cartridges - was found and the wanted man arrested.

His identity is being withheld until formal charges are laid.

Meanwhile, two firearms and several rounds of ammunition were seized by the police in Manchester on Saturday.

However, there were no arrests.

According to the Constabulary Communication Network, the Manchester Operational Support Team seized the weapons during an operation in Grey Ground, Wilbin Street and Three Street district yesterday morning.

The weapons seized were a .380 Beretta pistol with five .380 cartridges, which was discovered on Bonitto Crescent, and a 9mm Glock pistol with three rounds, found in a fowl coop in Three Chains district.

Investigations to ascertain the owners of the guns and ammunition continue.
