GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer
Alvin Ferguson and Ochia Tomlin became man and wife recently. The two were in a strong love relationship for almost 10 years before they decided to walk down the aisle to face Reverend Dr Roy Owens, pastor at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God in Clarendon, where they are both members. The Good Book states that when a man finds a wife he finds a good thing; and that was echoed by officiating Minister Reverend Dr Roy Owens, who skilfully and ably conducted their short wedding ceremony. Alvin and Ochia got baptised close to the end of last year at the church and decided that they wanted to share a good life together for God and to be examples in their community, worthy of emulation especially by the young people who see them every day. happy moments "This interesting relationship started between us almost 10 years ago. Our being together over these years has been very interesting. We have been sharing numerous happy moments together; and as the days went by we just loved, trusted and understood each other," bragged Mrs Ferguson. When the two faced the marriage officer on December 23 last year, it was after they had realised that they were inseparable and had started their Christian walk with God; and had really felt true love which comes from the Creator, that they made their togetherness a true manifestation to love each other for the rest of their lives. During the wedding ceremony, which lasted for over an hour, the couple was given words of wisdom by Reverend Owens on how to make their marriage successful. He told Mrs Ferguson never to watch her husband but to trust him; and told the bridegroom that he should tell his wife each day that he loves her. Speaking to Life and Times recently, Mrs Ferguson said she and her new husband have been good at communicating with each other from the time they met; and this, she said, has been making their marriage a success so far, especially knowing that they are Christians who are living for God one day at a time. steadfast love "I give thanks to the God of heaven for His steadfast love; and for keeping us together, especially now that we are happily married and serving a great and wonderful God," said Mr Ferguson. The Fergusons, who had a word for those couples who have not yet decided to get married, said once they are in love all they need to do is to seek the Lord and allow Him to be a part of their life, while leaving their cares up to Him. They want all to understand that once God is leading them and they keep close to Him, He will help them to make the right decisions as well as to make their marriage work. "The magic words in a great relationship are, 'I love you just the way you are,'" said Mrs Ferguson. Feedback: pehenrya@hotmail.com |
