Sophia Squire's 'Some Day' a hit |
|||||
Sophia Squire - Contributed There's something huge happening with reggae singer Sophia Squire. She has a new single called 'Some Day', which has generated over 100,000 views on YouTube in only two weeks, a phenomenal achievement for a reggae artiste. "Right now, I am just pleasantly surprised. What Sophia is doing with this song is impressive because I remember at one point, last week, she got 16,000 views in one day, and it has been steadily going up. Big things are happening for Sophia in Europe and this song is propelling her in a major way," her manager, Audley 'Bready' Allen, said in a release. SomeDay, produced by Swedish producer Frederick Mikaelsson, has signalled Squire's emergence as one of the fresh new voices of reggae. In the past few months, Squire has become a bit of a social media sensation as Love Caan Pay The Bills, featuring Rich Ras, generated heated debate between males and females on Facebook and Twitter. "The response has been incredible so far to Some Day, this song ah buss faster that Ra-ta-ta-tat ... People are talking about it and putting it up on Twitter and Facebook, the views just keep going up, every day you check the link, it is going up by at least six to 7,000 views. The interest is not falling off, the message in the music resonates with a lot of people, one of renewal and perseverance even in the face of great odds ... yeah, better must come. And I am getting a lot of calls from all over the world," Squire said. Music critics believe that 2013 could well be Sophia Squire's breakout year. She is creating a huge buzz in Europe, and there are plans to perform on a series of gigs in Germany and France in April, and a later tour of other European countries during the summer. |
