Woman fined for attempting to smuggle ganja in slippers |

Rasbert Turner, PORTMORE STAR Writer A 44-year-old St Andrew woman who tried to smuggle ganja into a prison in a pair of slippers was fined $30,000 or three months in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court recently. She is Yvonne Pryce, a higgler from Waltham Park Road, St Andrew. She pleaded guilty. "Your Honour, it's a man from Waltham who asked mi to tek di slippers to a prisoner. Mi never know sey ganja bury inside," Pryce told Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece. The RM told her she was naïve. The court heard that in April, Pryce took items to the Portmore Police Station. Among the items was a pair of slippers, which had a false compartment with ganja weighing one ounce. Pryce was charged with breaches of the Corrections Act. |
