Blake banned for six years

Dominique Blake

KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC):

Jamaican quarter-miler Dominique Blake was yesterday slapped with a six-year ban for doping by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission.

Blake tested positive for methylhexaneamine at the Jamaica Olympic Trials last year.

She finished sixth in the 400m at the trials. Blake represented Jamaica at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in March last year.

Her case was adjourned in March because of the absence of one of the members of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel.

Blake also was banned for nine months after ephedrine was found in her system in 2006.

She competed for Penn State from 2004 to 2008.

Blake's six-year ban takes effect days after the Jamaican government announced a JA$16-million budget for drug testing of athletes.
