Reggae Boyz midfielder Jermaine Johnson has expressed disappointment at the fact that he will miss Jamaica's crucial World Cup Qualification match-up against regional kingpins Mexico on Tuesday.

Johnson, who is currently in training with the 24-man squad, will have to sit out the encounter due to a suspension earned for an accumulation of yellow cards.

"I am really disappointed because I really want to help the team to get the results that are needed," Johnson told UK publication The Star.

"But I still have to keep positive and try and get my fitness up and stay positive and confident."

Johnson has been in solid form for the English Championship division team Sheffield Wednesday this season, netting crucial goals in the teams run to avoid relegation. Johnson sustained a hamstring injury late in the season, however, and only recently recovered to make an appearance for Jamaica's Reggae Boyz against English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspurs. Since then, however, Johnson, who had a strong game in the team's opening encounter of the round against the Mexicans, has looked among the sharpest in the national team's training session and will doubtless be a big miss. The player is, however, confident that he will remain in good touch despite missing the game.

"I don't think this (the ban) will break my momentum: it is just one game and there are other players who can do what the fans and country need.

"If we lose any of these games, I think it is going to be very hard for us to come back, so getting three points in each of these games will really boost us."
