However, it was also a special evening for The Mico University College, which returned its best-ever results in the 177-year history of the institution. This year, The Mico University College had its best-ever haul in Intercol sports competitions, as it captured six titles, including a clean sweep in cricket, where they won both the Twenty 20 and 50 Overs competition, Rugby 13's where they had a memorable two point win over many-time champions, G.C. In bringing greetings, Dr Earl Buckle, vice-president (Student Affairs) Excelsior Community College (Exed), said that Exed will be a force to reckon with in the future as they will concentrate on areas that they will excel in. MoyAnn Simpson, Intercol general secretary, read the president's message which commended the student athletes, stating that there are different avenues for student athletes to excel. "We need to continue our efforts to promote Intercol as the vehicle to the future for the transition of high school that is behind us for international presentation or national representation that is vital," Guest speaker Anthony Hall, CEO of Jamaica Producers Group, challenged the student athletes to continue to aim for success. "Set precise goals that are achievable; acquire related knowledge to put your goal in the high-definition area to define that goal and be optimistic as success begins today as you make the effort," Hall pointed out. Natoya Goule and Damar Forbes, both standouts at the Louisiana State University, were adjudged Intercollegiate International athletes of the year, while UTech's Stephenie McPherson and G.C.
