Star Tell Me Pastor

Unlucky
Dear Pastor,

I am writing to you with tears in my eyes. I am a 27-year-old woman who has been unemployed since I left high school in 2003 without any subject.

I have been employed twice in a year. I have been going back to school to do some subjects but had no luck with passing my CXCs.

I went to three evening institutions and did not pass any subject. I am always trying but every time I try something new, or a way to earn money, or send myself back to school, I always fail.

I have been a Christian since March of this year and have been tarrying for the Holy Ghost but no luck. I go on fasting, but I wasn't lucky. I don't know what is wrong with me or my life.

Please, help me and I need someone to talk to. Please, I am depressed in all areas of my life and need someone who understands to tell me what is going on in my life. I am from St Catherine. I am awaiting your reply.

L.

Dear L.,

Don't give up on studying. Continue to go to classes and do your very best. Perhaps you find it difficult to either study or to understand what you have been taught. Don't be afraid to ask your teachers to explain what you do not understand.

You have been attending church and it is likely there are teachers in your church who could help you.

Don't be afraid to tell them about your problem and ask them to assist you. I beg you, don't give up.

Concerning your reasons for engaging in prayer and fasting, I doubt very much you understand what the Bible teaches about the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Don't become frustrated. Serve the Lord. Even if you do not get the experience of speaking in tongues, that does not mean God does not love you and that those who speak in tongues are superior to you, spiritually.

Pastor
