AIDS AFFAIRS - Should I employ my brother? |
|||||
Should I employ my brother? Dear Counsellor: I have a food establishment and my brother is HIV infected. As much as I want to help my brother I also want to be fair to the public. Do you think it is okay to employ my brother in my food establishment? Manager Dear Manager, Health authorities from all around the world have agreed that transmission of HIV, via food and beverages, is not a known risk. Like any other person, the HIV-infected person must comply with regulations issued by the Ministry of Health regarding food handlers. It is, therefore, safe for you to employ your brother, providing he meets the regulation issued for food handlers. For more information on condom use, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, call the AIDS/STD Helpline at 967-3830, 967-3764 or toll free at 1888-991-4444. |
