![]() Theodore Whitmore - File National coach Theodore Whitmore has challenged players on the fringes of Jamaica's Reggae Boyz squad to prove that they belong in the first team, ahead of a crucial spell of preparation for the resumption of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers. The Jamaicans will face English League fifth-place finishers Tottenham Hotspurs in The Bahamas on Thursday, with a game against The Bahamas over a week later. The team will arrive back in the island on June 2, two days ahead of a crunch qualifier with Mexico at National Stadium. The Boyz will then host the United States on the 7th, before travelling to Honduras on the 11th. "Our supporters have been calling for people like Mattocks because we have not scored a lot of goals so he will have an opportunity to show what he can produce," Whitmore said. "Others such as O'Brian Woodbine and Evan Taylor were involved in World Cup qualifiers from as far back as 2008 for the 2010 campaign, so we are having another look at them as the opportunity is there for them to perform and break in," Whitmore added. "In fact, it is a big opportunity for all the local-based players to show that they belong," added Whitmore. In addition to Taylor and Woodbine, the local contingent will include Alvas Powell, Xavian Virgo, Jermaine Hue, Richard McCallum, O'Brian Woodbine, Damian Williams and Montrose Phinn. The team will be joined by the US-based and European-based contingent on their arrival in The Bahamas. Among them will be German-based Daniel Gordon of Karlsruher SC who will be looking to make his debut for the national team. Squad: Alvas Powell, Xavian Virgo, Jermaine Hue, Richard McCallum, O'Brian Woodbine, Damian Williams, Montrose Phinn, Jermie Lynch, Evan Taylor, Jermaine Johnson, Keammar Daley, Andre Blake, Daniel Gordon, Darren Mattocks, Rodolph Austin, Jobi McAnuff, Adrian Mariappa, Garath McLeary, Donovan Ricketts, Dwayne Miller, Theo Robinson, Marvin Elliott, Dane Richards, Demar Phillips, Ryan Johnson and Jermaine Beckford.
