Last year, Red Stripe, in celebration of Jamaica's 50th year of Independence, launched a brand-new beer, Talawah.

A year later, Red Stripe is celebrating again. This time, the one-year anniversary of the now-successful brand that is the most affordable lager in Jamaica today.

"Our customers and consumers have reacted positively and Talawah has been a successful addition to the Jamaican alcoholic beverage market," said Erin Mitchell, brand manager for Talawah.

To kick the celebrations off this year, Red Stripe, like they did last year has made Friday (today) National Talawah Day that celebrates the nation's unique culture and its newest alcoholic beverage.

"National Talawah Day is a day set aside in our calendars for Jamaicans to celebrate our talent, heritage, culture and dynamism as a people," said Mitchell.

significant contributions

"We cherish our unique nature and, even though we are a small country, we celebrate the significant contributions we have made to the world in the field of sports, entertainment and culture. Small country, big dreams, in the words of Miss Lou, 'We likkle but we Talawah'.

This year's celebrations will see a series of activities kick-off in a number of parishes across the island that will see consumers enjoying the talents of community deejays, dancers and lots of ice-cold refreshment.

"This week we'll be hitting four parishes, with more communities and bars to be added in the coming weeks," Mitchell revealed.

In Manchester, Right Vibes, in Surprise District, will see action starting at 6 p.m. Simultaneously, the Bambu Bar, at Race Course, will also be coming alive with exciting entertainment for patrons from that community. In Westmoreland, Billy's Skateland, in Grange Hill, will be the place to be, from as early as 10 a.m. In Kingston, Willies Place, at Three Miles Plaza, Spanish Town Road, is where the vibe will be starting at 8 p.m.

Up north, at the Fambly Bar, in Falmouth, Trelawny, the fun begins at noon.

Tomorrow, the fun-fest will continue in Little London, at M&H Cool Spot. Partying starts at 6 p.m.
