Swift action by the police in St Catherine led to the recovery of a trailer motor truck and cement valued more than $6 million on Monday. Reports are that about noon yesterday, the articulated vehicle laden with over one hundred tonnes of bulk cement was travelling towards Spanish Town along The Nelson Mandela Highway when men robbed the driver of the vehicle. They drove it to a section of Hillrun district where they got into mechanical difficulties and abandoned the vehicle. When the police visited the location, persons ran and managed to escape. However, the content was safely returned to its owner. THE STAR learnt that further investigations are being conducted to hold those responsible for the daylight robbery. |
