Two Westmoreland men who were reportedly held with 71lb (32.27 kilograms) of ganja pleaded not guilty to breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act when they appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Sylburn Salmon and Iva Gordon were charged with possession of, dealing in and trafficking in ganja. It is reported that on the evening of May 7, at about 7:45, police from the St Elizabeth Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle in which Salmon and Gordon were travelling along the New Holland main road. During a search of the vehicle, 71 pounds of ganja was reportedly found in their possession. They were subsequently taken into custody and charged. The men are set to return to court on May 21. |
