Service disruption angers Digicel customers
SHELDON WILLIAMS, Staff Reporter

Some customers of telcommunications company Digicel experienced an extended interruption in communication last night as they were unable to send or receive calls, sms and instant messages.

Prepaid BlackBerry customers also experienced a disruption in their service. Several customers expressed their anger on social networking site Facebook.

Akeem PuppetMaster Robinson posted "You know what is real value ... being able to make and receive calls and text messages ... and that is not what I'm experiencing right now ... fix ur system."

Meanwhile, Craig Elecktro Elliott posted, "Seems like it's a serious problem, texts or calls not going through. Could Digicel please release a statement or something to let us know what's going on. Being silent is not really helping."

Rachell Dias posted, "Digicel, why is that when I'm making calls the phone keep cutting out or it telling me that I don't have credit on my phone when I do have credit, and my text not going through?"

Latoya Francis wrote, 'Y'all replied to every post until persons start to complain that they can't send any text message or calls, that's so inappropriate!!! #GETTIN IMPATIENT!!!!!

The company posted an advisory some time after to assure customers that they were working to remedy the setback.

"Digicel sincerely apologises for the service disruption some of our customers are experiencing at the moment. We are aware and working assiduously to have the service restored in the shortest possible time."
