Accused landlady fined for assault

The landlady who was accused of allegedly assaulting popular dancehall artiste Unicorn was fined $30,000 or spend six months in prison, when she appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Tashell Wray of a Kingston address was charged with unlawful wounding.

When Wray appeared before Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, she quickly apologised for her conduct on her last court visit.

"I am very sorry about my actions on Friday, it won't happen again," she said.

provide a reason

Wray, who was to be sentenced on Friday, was remanded in custody after she reportedly gave RM Judith Pusey 'attitude' when she was asked to provide a reason for not sending her to prison for the offence.

Wray is to return to court on May 17 with Unicorn's rent deposit.

She told RM Pusey "I told Rent Board I'll return his deposit month end."

Wray, however, paid the artiste $8,000.

Allegations into the incident are that a few weeks ago after renting the apartment to the dancehall artiste, he was assaulted by Wray after they were involved in an altercation over noise.

noise at house

According to Unicorn, Wray, after renting him the premises, told him that she did not want noise at the house. He stated that shortly after moving in, a dance was held at the premises.

He said when he spoke to Wray about the matter, he was attacked by various persons during which Wray allegedly hit him in the head with a bottle.
