Costa Rica eliminated Jamaica from the 2013 FIFA CONCACAF Beach Soccer World Cup qualifier after a penalty shoot-out win at the Malcolm Park Beach Soccer and Futsal Facility in Nassau, The Bahamas yesterday.

After a 3-3 scoreline at the end of regular and extra-time, the Costa Ricans scored a close 2-1 win in the penalty shoot-out. Jermaine 'Tuffy' Anderson scored twice, while Phillip Peddie got the other goal for the Jamaicans. However, Anderson saw his penalty kick saved by the Costa Rica goalkeeper.

Amazing saves

It was Anderson who swept Jamaica ahead for the first time in the game at 3-2. Jamaica goalkeeper Kirk Porter made some amazing saves to keep his team's net safe, almost the whole last leg, in fact the goalkeeper seemed determined to clinch the points for his side.

But his efforts were not enough, as Mendoza levelled the game once again for the Costa Ricans to send it to extra-time.

With no more goals coming at the end of regular time or during the supplementary three-minute period, the match then went into the penalty shoot-out lottery, where the Costa Ricans proved better and bagged the two points at stake.

Jamaica ended the qualifiers without a win as they lost the opening game in Group C action 7-2 against El Salvador on Wednesday at the same venue.

El Salvador and Costa Rica will battle for group honours today. Jamaica ended last in the three-team group.
