Naggo Head take early Primary Champs lead |

Anthony Minott, Star Writer Defending champs Naggo Head Primary, boosted by a quinella in the girl's long jump, took the lead with a combined score of 19 points on day one of the INSPORTS/Swizzzle Primary Athletic Championships at the National Stadium yesterday. The defending champions are followed by Clan Carthy Primary (15 points), St John's and Grateful Hill, 11 points apiece, and Harbour View (10 points), who round off the top five. The Naggo Head pair of Shauntia Davidson (1.40m), and Natsuya Chance with the same distance finished one, two, in the girl's high jump open. St John's Primary's Brittany Anderson, 1.35m, placed third. Meanwhile, Wayne Pinnock of Clan Carthy Primary accounted for the first record of the meet, after he leapt to a new mark of 5.27m in the preliminary round of the boy's long jump open. Pinnock jumped 5.20m for gold in the final. Craig Brown of Holy Family was second with a mark of 4.93m, while Romario Lodge's leap of 4.92m was good enough for third. Pinnock, who was clearly elated with his achievement said: "I'm really happy at this time and I dedicate this win to my coach, and the rest of the school population. Big up to my parents for giving me the chance to prove my skills." The competition continues today and ends tomorrow.
