A young woman charged for chopping her aunt was remanded for psychiatric evaluation in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Nicola Arthurs is charged with unlawful wounding.

Arthurs returns to court on May 17, when the matter will be mentioned.

Allegations are that on the day of the incident, Arthurs and her aunt got into a dispute, which resulted in her aunt being chopped on her hand.

Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey remanded the accused after the complainant told the court that Arthurs is out of control.

"Your Honour, for the whole day she did a walk up and down with the machete, and her parents dem never do anything about it. This is not the first time she is doing something like this, the last time she bruk a knife inna one man foot," the complainant told the court.

However, Arthur's father told the RM that his daughter should not be remanded because she is not a violent person.

"Your Honour, she is just recovering from a condition and she is not a violent person. This is a family feud," Authurs' father said.
