A records clerk implicated in a visa scam had her bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Janet Bryant, charged with conspiracy to defraud, returns to court on June 11, as the file is incomplete. Bryant, 50, is from Seaview Gardens in Kingston.

Allegations are that in February, the accused introduced the male complainant to a man who could provide Unites States visa.

It is alleged that the accused made arrangements with the complainant to pay $200,000 to the visa man.

The court also heard that the complainant also handed over his passport, national identification card, and his birth certificate.

It is alleged that on February 7, the complainant sent an additional sum of money through Western Union to a man known as Steve Salmon at the request of the visa man.

Following an investigation by the police, the accused was arrested.

Another fatal chopping in St Thomas

The Area-Five police last night confirmed yet another fatal chopping incident in St Thomas.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands the latest incident occurred yesterday afternoon in John's Town in the parish, however, the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown.

Up to press time last night, the police say they were piecing together the report and that details on the incident would be provided upon completion.

Last week, two girls, ages 14 and 16, were taken into police custody following the killing of a man in the parish. The man was reportedly chopped after he made sexual advances to one of the girls, police said.
