Sentencing was delayed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday until May 15 for a woman who stole more than $1 million from her employer.

The attorney representing Shamar Rambaille, who is charged with larceny as a servant, told Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that restitution is imminent.

She advised that the cheques are at the bank and are waiting to be cleared.

The court heard that between 2011 and February this year, Rambaille defrauded her employer of $1,100,000 by altering cheques.

The accused, who received a weekly salary, wrote up cheques on behalf of herself which she later gave to the employer, who is the complainant, to sign.

After the signatures were affixed, the defendant changed the words and the figures to reflect larger sums. She later encashed the cheques against the company's account.
