Multi-talented dancehall artiste/musician Sagitarr is on the brink of a musical breakthrough. He is currently enjoying much attention with his single titled Long Time Story which was produced by roots reggae singer Bobby Tenna for his Wild Fiya Inc. imprint. "It's really nice to see how the people are responding to my song, it's getting some good airplay and a lot of people are using it as their ring tone. I'm very grateful for all the support my song is getting and I'm working hard to achieve even greater success with it, said Sagitarr. The humble singjay who hails from the parish of Clarendon believes the song that was recorded on the uptempo 'Me Mumma' rhythm will give him the break he's been working for. "It's not easy to find a hit song, you can record a lot of good songs and they don't hit, but I have a very strong feeling that this song will be the one to give me a break in the business. I can tell by the way people are talking about it that it's really going to go places." Sagitarr, whose real name is Lascelles Beckford, has been around music since he was a child. His father Lascelles Beckford Sr, who is now deceased, was a veteran session musician and band leader who played guitar in the Crucial Vibes Band and Junior Reid's backing band, the One Blood Band. "I've been working on my craft since I was just a little boy; I wrote my first song when one of my brothers got into trouble with our mom for stealing some harmony corn porridge. The song I wrote about it was very funny and all the kids in the house loved it. My dad used to take me to the studios with him frequently, I learnt a lot from him and all the other musicians he worked with. He also worked with a lot of popular artistes back in the day, including Junior Reid. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about him, I really miss my dad, he was a very good father," said the artiste. The Clarendon native is highly motivated and determined to make a name for himself in the music business as he walks in the footsteps of his father. Sagitaar is also doing a lot of work with popular local production outfit Daseca Records which is known for producing hits for a myriad of dancehall stars including Bounty Killer and Mavado. "I've been doing a lot of work in the studio, I have no time to waste it's all about music right now, I have to make it so I can help my family and music is all I know. I have been working very closely with Daseca and it's a good look, so far they've put out a few singles for me that are also getting some good attention." Sagitarr is also promoting a number of other singles including Child Molester, I'll Follow You and One.
