10-y-o takes aunt to court

A 10-year old girl brought her aunt before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer to a charge of assault causing bodily harm.

The aunt, from a Kingston address, pleaded guilty with explanation.

The accused told the court that her niece was allegedly fighting with her other nieces. She told the court that during the altercation, she went inside her house for a belt which she said she used to beat the complainant.

The aunt further told Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, "She wasn't behaving right."

She was subsequently admonished and discharged.

RM Pusey told the accused "Don't do it again because it is illegal."
